writing as Kowanda Stroud
In spite of themselves and their families ten year old Janiece Addison and fourteen Year old Icey May Watkins become friends one summer.Growing up in Love, Okalahoma was a wonderful experience for Janiece but Icey may had the misfortune of being born on the wrong side of the tracks. The Reviews: Icey May is a remarkable heartwarming story about one little girl who is brave enough to handle all life will throw at her. While Janiece is the main character, it is Icey May who will affect readers the most. Her story will not leave one dry eye. Kowanda Stroud does an excellent job in bringing both girls' stories to life. The realism of Mrs. Stroud's writing is truly amazing. She takes her readers to Love, Oklahoma and makes them feel like they are part of what is going on. Beware, this author will make you feel anger, sadness and other emotions as this tale unfolds. That however is what adds to the overall story. Readers get to feel just what the characters feel. While the first book this reviewer has read by this author, there will definitely be more. JoAnn Fallen Angel Reviews This is a heart wrenching story and one, which most people would rather sweep under the rug. I can almost hear the people saying, things like this do not happen in my town. People like Lester Watkins do exist and no amount of sugar coating can make them go away. This is a must read and an eye-opener. After reading this book, I doubt anyone can ever turn their backs on the Icey May's of this world again. Author of Becky's Rebel and Bosslady |
